Barents Re Reinsurance Company’s Chairman Gerardo Garcia, comments on the award presented by Global Banking and Finance Review. The awards where incepted in 2011 by the magazine to reflect the innovation, achievement, strategy, progressive and inspirational changes taking place within the global finance community.
The magazine awarded Barents Re with its award as Best Reinsurance Company for Italy for 2018. Mr. Gerardo Garcia explains that the award is based on the innovative facultative underwriting program in place for the Italian market. This program is directed from Milan and responsible for the great success of the program.

Mr. Gerardo Garcia explains that being influential today has more to do with been relevant to its specific market in the case of Barents Re, “We are relevant within our niche segments. The company is the world’s niche reinsurer operator. In the past 23 year the company has constantly over-performed all of its peers in the reinsurance market but has also shown that big is necessarily better. That a niche agile operator with specific know how can become a source of excellence in a market that has become commoditized.”
